Who are we
Gill Tipple

I am a qualified midwife with over 10 years’ midwifery experience. I enjoy working as a midwife in the hospital and community environments. I achieved a Midwifery Diploma at the University of Glasgow and a BSc. Midwifery at University of Abertay, Dundee, Scotland.
Since qualifying, I have attended courses for further advice and training on how best to support mothers and fathers becoming parents. These courses have been run by experts in their field particularly PROSPECT for Antenatal Education and UNICEF baby friendly initiative for breastfeeding management.
For many years I have been involved in teaching Parentcraft classes and have significant experience and understanding of the questions parents ask.
I passionately believe that, when women are offered a range of informed choices and practical skills, they can achieve a positive childbirth experience.
I am married to Matt and between us we have 5 children. Being a parent myself I can empathise with the needs and emotions that accompany impending parenthood.
Gill Newcombe

I qualified as a midwife in Edinburgh in 1988. I relocated to Winchester shortly afterwards and gained experience in all areas of midwifery while working in the maternity unit in Winchester. I qualified as a sonographer in 1994 and continue to work both in labour ward and as a sonographer. Many years of watching women give birth has given me a deep understanding of the birthing process and the factors which can influence the outcome. The beauty of watching a child being born continues to fascinate and astonish me. I am particularly interested in the use of water for pain relief and birth.
I am married to Tim and between us have 4 daughters. I understand the joy and fear involved in pregnancy, in childbirth and on becoming a parent.
I have also attended the PROSPECT Antenatal Education course. Further study days have included; Optimal Foetal Positioning by Jean Sutton and Waterbirth by Diane Garland
